Service-Oriented Applications
We have implemented several service-oriented systems where we have built entirely self-contained systems that can be programmatically accessed using web services. These solutions have provided much client value in being a truly re-usable piece of functionality to an enterprise. In addition to achieving re-use this approach helps simplify complex systems. In one such case, we were asked to re-visit a highly-coupled, complex and brittle system with hundreds of objects in a single database. We implemented several service-oriented systems that logically simplified the overall architecture and removed complexity and instability. Read more about service-orientation in our payment system case study.
Enterprise Developer Framework
To help a large fortune 500 company enforce consistency among scores of independently-written intranet applications, we developed a programmatic framework to save developers time in certain key areas of their applications. This solution provided role-based security authorization services that integrated into the .NET code-access security model. In addition to this, the framework provided application setting management as well as user personalization settings.
Business Continuity Planning System
After 9/11, many companies began to realize that they didn’t have enough planning to allow them to easily recover from a disaster. Part of this planning requires tracking resources and processes required in the event of a disaster. Under tight deadlines, we developed a system to assist with the capture and tracking of business resources as it relates to disaster-recover/business continuity planning.
Dynamic Web Data-Collection Tools
In an effort to meet the need of ever changing requirements for data capture and survey processing, we have developed several dynamic survey systems which put the business user in control of building and managing web-based surveys and data collection forms. Our solutions have been used in hundreds of instances and meet the need of surveys, sign-up forms, “dynamic” databases for multi-record tracking and software feedback forms.
Business Intelligence System
Keeping up with competitors is an important aspect of business development. We helped a large company keep track of their peers in the market by providing a web-based content management system which allowed access to various forms of public information as well as in-house knowledge about competitors. This was provided to all company executives and managers as a source of information. Personalization was employed to customize information per user.
Enterprise Library Customization
To meet unique business needs, we have extended the capabilities of the Microsoft Enterprise Library. This has provided developers with a consistent development experience.
ASP.NET 2.0 Membership/Profile Customization
To meet custom requirements of separating the data layer form the front-end application, we extended the ASP.NET Membership and Profile providers to utilize a custom web service security call instead of a direct database call. This approach provided more security in that additional ports strictly for data access were made unnecessary.
